(RightWingAmericans.Com)- Thousands of Michigan residents were so sick of the extensive lockdown measures put in place by Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer that they took to the streets in their cars and brought the roads surrounding the Michigan State Capitol to a standstill.
Just look at this scene!
WDIV reported that the “extended stay-at-home order is not going over well with many Michigan residents, so much so they’re gathering in protest at the State Capitol this afternoon.”
Local reporter Rod Meloni appeared in front of lines of trucks and cats, some of which displayed large “TRUMP” flags.
“Well, it’s bedlam here actually. Operation Gridlock is exactly doing what they set out to do, which is to clog the streets all around the State Capitol. Most people were told to stay in their cars, but as you can see there are a lot of people on foot out here. A lot of people wearing masks, other people wrapping themselves in flags.”
Other signs asked, “Are you shutting down my taxes?”
The event was organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition, in protest against Governor Whitmer’s “radical, progressive agenda.” While people are forced to stay at home in the state, marijuana stores and abortion clinics remain open. Incredibly, churches were deemed non-essential in a state where buying pot was deemed necessary.
Can you believe that?
Not only that, but Whitmer’s stay-at-home order even forced supermarkets and stores to stop selling non-essential items. That means if you visit the supermarket to buy essentials, you can’t also come home with products she considers non-essential. Photos have circulated online from shocked Michigan residents showing shelves of seeds and gardening tools sectioned off.
Apparently doing gardening work in your garden isn’t essential!
The protest was a huge shock to Governor Whitmer and was accompanied by a huge recall petition, too, which gained more than 200,000 signatures. A Facebook page named “Michiganders Against excessive Quarantine” racked up a massive 300,000 members too.
Governor Whitmer claims that her measures are designed to “flatten the curve” of COVID-19 infections, but other states have not taken steps this radical.
More protests are planned against the governor, too. NBC News reports that several protest groups already have rallies scheduled and don’t seem to show any sign of giving up their fight.
