BYE BYE UNCLE BEN: Famous Food Brand to Disappear Because of “Racism”

( Just hours after Quaker Oats announced that they would discontinue their famed Aunt Jemima brand, popular rice and savory food brand Uncle Ben’s announced the popular logo would also be removed. The announcement from Mars, the owner of the Uncle Ben’s Brand, suggested their decision was a measure to tackle “racial biases.”

“As a global brand, we know we have a responsibility to take a stand in helping to put an end to racial bias and injustices,” the brand announced in a statement.

The issue appears to be that the Uncle Ben brand portrays a black character as the head of the brand. Uncle Ben is an African American man, wearing a suit and a bow tie, who accompanies the “Perfect Every Time” slogan.

Sounds…offensive, right?

“As we listen to the voices of consumers, especially in the Black community, and to the voices of our Associates worldwide, we recognize that now is the right time to evolve the Uncle Ben’s brand, including its visual brand identity, which we will do,” the statement added.

Mars did not, however, announce a time scale for the change in branding. The company said they would evaluate all possibilities in changing their brand, meaning they still haven’t decided what they plan to do. Like with Aunt Jemima, the products are expected to stay the same, but the branding changed to get rid of the beloved African American character.

The decision comes after widespread protests and riots erupted in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Police brutality was widely blamed for Floyd’s death and police officer Derek Chauvin was stripped of his title and charged with murder. Despite this, protesters (largely Democrat voters) claimed it was representative of systemic racism and started burning down cities and rioting in the streets. As part of these protests, social justice warriors also began attacking popular brands for being £racist.”

“Racism has no place in society,” Mars said in the statement. “We stand in solidarity with the Black community, our Associates and our partners in the fight for social justice.”

Not only have Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima taken a hit, but the popular Land O’Lakes character, a Native American woman, was also removed in April.

It seems like the social justice warriors want to wipe out every non-white popular character in advertising! Who next?
